Ancient ruins, jungle, white-sand beaches and vibrant coastal cities; Yucatan is an amazing destination, also for your non-diving companions. Cancun, Cozumel and Playa are the most popular destinations, but there are more interesting places to stay. Apart from temples and beaches, Yucatan is located alongside the largest reef system in the western hemisphere with amazing dive spots. Another phenomenon to see are the Cenotes; sinkholes in the jungle that won't require a dive caving certificate.

The Yucatan Peninsula lies next to the Mesoamerica Reef, the largest reef in the Western hemisphere and the second largest in the world after the Great Barrier Reef. Expect regular encounters with sharks, rays, turtles, and dolphins. Also, Yucatan offers a unique diving experience: Cenotes. These should be on every diver’s shortlist and the good news is that you don’t need a cave diving certificate because they are partly open. So whenever you dive in Yucatan, your trip is not complete without diving at least one of these unique sinkholes in the jungle.

Your choice of location depends on your wishes, budget and the people that accompany you (i.e. non-divers) — see the ‘where to go’ section for a breakdown of the various locations or choose one of them below.
